Why CollieBall Is the Herding Ball Every Working Dog Needs

    OliviaBy OliviaMay 27, 2025Updated:June 16, 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

If you share your life with a Border Collie, Australian Shepherd, Heeler, or any other herding breed, you already know: these dogs are smart, energetic, and driven. But they weren’t bred to lounge around. Their instincts run deep—they were designed to herd, work, solve problems, and stay active all day long. And when they don’t get to do those things, problems can show up fast.

That’s where the CollieBall comes in. Originally created in a moment of personal crisis, this herding ball for dogs is helping thousands of pups live better, more enriched lives—especially in homes without traditional herding jobs.

The Birth of HerdingBall: Made for Huckleberry

In 2020, our family was displaced by the Santa Cruz fires. Amid the chaos and uncertainty, our dog Huckleberry—an active working breed—began to show signs of restlessness. Without a job or space to move, her stress and boredom were impossible to miss.So we created something for her. We took a large inflatable exercise ball, wrapped it in heavy-duty fabric, and gave her a job: to herd. What started as a DIY distraction became a breakthrough. Huckleberry was calmer, more focused, and finally able to channel her instincts. That homemade solution eventually became a herding ball .

Why Herding Breeds Struggle Without Work

Working dogs like Collies and Aussies aren’t just hyper—they’re wired to work. Left without a job, they’ll find one. Sometimes that “job” becomes barking at every sound, chewing furniture, chasing kids, or tearing up the backyard.

Many well-meaning dog owners try to help with daily walks or fetch—but for a dog with the drive to herd, it’s just not enough.

    How CollieBall Helps

CollieBall isn’t just a toy—it’s a herding simulation. The ball is too large to pick up, so dogs must use their bodies and minds to move and control it, just like they would a herd of sheep. It engages their instincts without needing livestock or wide open fields.

Its design includes a bouncy inner exercise ball and a rugged fabric outer layer that can handle the pressure of daily play, even with intense dogs.

Perfect for Urban Dogs—and Travel Too

Urban life doesn’t naturally fit herding breeds. But CollieBall helps bridge the gap. Whether you have a backyard, access to a dog park, or just some room to run, it gives dogs the job they need.

Plus, it’s travel-friendly. You can deflate the inner ball, pack it flat, and take your dog’s favorite enrichment tool wherever you go.

    What Dog Parents Say

    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“Our Aussie used to bark nonstop and destroy furniture when she was bored. Since we started using CollieBall, she’s calmer, more focused, and sleeps better at night. It’s a total game-changer.”
    — Katie M., Denver, CO

CollieBall was made with love, forged in a hard moment, and inspired by the needs of one very special pup. Today, it’s bringing purpose and peace to dogs everywhere. For herding breeds, this isn’t just a toy—it’s a way to feel understood.

Give your dog more than just play. Give them a job they love. Try the original herding ball for dogs—CollieBall.
