Initially, the canceling of Article 370 was seen as a step towards addressing Ladakh’s long-standing problems.
But, making Ladakh a Union Territory without a legislature has left the region under the direct control of officials, rather than elected representatives.

On January 21, 2023, He announced on his YouTube channel that he would start a five-day hunger strike starting on Republic Day.

Despite the harsh conditions at Khardung La, the world’s highest motorable road, he intended to carry out his strike there, drawing attention to the extreme challenges faced by Ladakhis.
However, the plan couldn’t succeed because Wangchuk was placed under house arrest by the Ladakh authorities.
Authorities said that they couldn’t let anyone die in that severe weather condition, but Wangchuk believed that the true intention was to suppress the voice and those fake promises.

Make Ladakh a full-fledged state from the Union Territory, so that Ladakh can also have its its political assembly.
Job Reservations and Public Service Commission
